Here’s a new thing — on wet-weather days when I’m not biking to the bus, jog to/from the stop. It’s 0.5 miles at both ends, morning and evening, so a total of 2 miles a day at most. Not much, but ... something more than walking, and faster.

I hadn’t run in several months but I’m in decent cardiovascular shape from commuter-biking; one notch down from running shape. Also, the little shin-lateral bits are the first to tire. But after a week and a half of a mile-here-half-mile-there I’m feeling comfortable just putting it in low gear and letting it roll forward. A nice thing to do a few days a week if it isn’t raining. :)

I really like commute-time exercise since it takes no time out of the busy-working-husband-and-father weekday; in fact creates time.

Mastery in life is achieved by developing a process of constant and rapid correction, rather than the illusory goal of freedom from error; accomplished musicians, aviators and athletes know this.

Nice ride to work on the W&OD — 35 degrees but clear, sunny, and still. If anything I was overwarm by the time I got to work.
